Thank you to Mac Rodgers for creating this slideshow of the February Mini-Contest.

TWPC Members!

It seems as if February weather never fails! Another year of 32 degrees one day and 80 degrees the next!

We can hardly wait for spring with clear skies and some color in our gardens! Despite the weather, we’ve been keeping busy with a great field trip to the Post in Houston in February, Photo Deconstruction going over easy touchups in Photoshop, and a photo walk covering fill flash! Another field trip this March is to the Texas Wolfdog Project. Also, watch for information about the Art Car Parade, bluebonnets, and an overnight trip to Fredericksburg in September.

There are more opportunities to learn, join other photographers and have fun by being part of our club activities. And, we have several members who have offered to be mentors to other club members. We should have the names and contact information available to you all soon.

Believe it or not, Daylight Savings Time begins March 13th! Our guest speaker for the March 14th club meeting is Mollie Isaacs (, presenting “Awake the Light”! The timing couldn’t be more perfect for us to learn about using light creatively in our photography.

Lastly, renew your membership before March 31st! We are a very active and involved club of photography lovers and want you to be part of it!

Guest Speaker

Mollie Isaacs is a professional photographer who specializes in Nature, Wildlife, Flowers, and Abstracts. She is passionate about photography, and loves nothing more than to share that passion by teaching others. Early in her career she studied with Ansel Adams and Joyce Tenneson. She has won the Kodak Gallery Award 14 times, considered by some to be the “Oscar” of photography. Her work is in the Permanent Collection of the International Photography Hall of Fame, and has been exhibited at Epcot Center in Disney World, and Grand Central Terminal in NYC. She runs Awake The Light Photo Workshops & Tours, offers online Webinars, and personally leads photo workshops around the country and beyond. Read more about her and see her work on

As photographers, we live and die by the light. Good quality light can make an image soar, while so-so light can make even the best subjects look unappealing. This exciting, educational, and inspirational program will help you “see the light.” Mollie will show you how to: - recognize good light, its direction and its quality - convey mood and emotion with different types of light - effectively use outdoor natural light - control indoor window light to your best advantage - pro tips and tricks with post-processing software (Lightroom) to improve the light on a variety of images - and more!

The WPC March 2022 field trip will be returning to the Texas Wolfdog Project in Montgomery, TX on Saturday, March 19, 2022 with lunch at either Tressie's or Kitty's Cafe.

This was a quite popular field trip in the past where you will be able to enter the enclosures and interact with some of the animals. The cost of this trip is $25 + your own lunch.

For those who would like to carpool or caravan to TWP, we will meet at the Woodlands Methodist Church parking lot across from The Loft for a 10:30 a.m. departure. If you plan to drive directly to TWP on your own, please let me know so that we won't be waiting in the church parking lot for you.

Here is the website about the Texas Wolfdog Project for more information: Texas Wolfdog Project | Home. Some of the 2022 annual contest categories that you might find on this field trip include Wildlife, TWPC Field Trips, Open, Creative Digital Manipulation, Doors & Windows, and Wild Card - Smart Phone Photography.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at Hope to see you on this trip! Even though this trip is currently full if you are interested, please contact me as I have started a wait list just in case there are any cancellations.
