Thank you to Mac Rodgers for creating this slideshow of the November Mini-Contest.

Congratulations to Zoraya Stern.

TWPC Members!

Wow, we’re almost to the end of 2021, and what a year it has been! We’ve had great field trips, photo walks, photo deconstructions, an incredible Annual Contest, and so much more! And we survived many Zoom meetings!!

We are hoping that our December 13th meeting will be our last Zoom meeting for a while!! The club meeting will consist of breakout sessions to hear what you need and want from your club! The goal is to focus on learning opportunities, interesting areas and subjects to photograph, places to go, challenges, and fun! The breakout sessions will ask for your ideas for workshops and photo walks, fieldtrips, mentoring, mini contest, and other interests for club members. Please come with your suggestions for how we all can become better photographers, learn from one another, and others!

We have learned a lot over the past 18 months, with Covid having a big impact on our lives. We have worked hard to keep the club going and growing by moving to virtual meetings, expanded workshops/photowalks, online payments, and registration systems, all of which have increased the cost of operating the club. In addition, our monthly speakers require slightly higher fees, all while our dues have remained constant for many years. To cover these costs, the Leadership Team has approved a $5 increase to the annual dues. We are committed as ever to providing you with the programs you want to learn, share and have fun with photography. Please renew your membership online and join December’s meeting to have your ideas to make our club what you want it to be.

Lastly! If all goes well, we plan to start the new year by meeting in person at The Glade on January 10th at 7pm!! We will use more space to spread chairs further apart and maintain distance to be safe. Watch for more details just in case there are changes!

Happy Holidays to all!!

Joan, Tom, and The Leadership Team

Photo Walks

Night and Astro Photography Zoom Workshop & Photo Walk

Due to the cloudy skies, the Astro Photography Photo Walk will be postponed to a later date.  Please watch the newsletter, website and Facebook for the new date.

Postponed  - Part 2 – December 4th (December 5th alternate night), Janet Bartsch’s Ranch near Chapel Hill, Texas. Sunset is scheduled for 5:24 PM, arrival and set up by 5:00 PM. Photo Walk leader: Tom Flink Cost: Free Registration is required: Join us for a fantastic photo walk and opportunity to shoot the stars in a location outside of the Houston lights. This photo walk will be led by Tom Flink and an experienced group of fellow members to act as mentors and be available for guidance and questions. We will explore techniques for stars, long exposure, star trails, light painting, and others. If we are lucky, we may even be able to get in a few sunset shots and blue hour. We encourage beginner and advanced members to join us. Our location is being graciously provided by member Janet Bartsch. Her property is located just outside of Chappell Hill, Texas which is about a 1-hour drive from The Woodlands. December 4th is also a New Moon, so we will have the best opportunity at stars (obviously not the moon). If for some reason the weather does not cooperate with us on December 4th, we will try again on the 5th. If both days are overcast or rainy, we will try again in January. To prepare, we will hold a Zoom Workshop on November 29th to cover equipment, techniques and explore how to make the most of this photo walk. We want everyone to be ready to shoot while on location, so the Zoom Workshop is required for everyone attending. Recommended equipment:  Camera with remote shutter release or delay timer, wide-angle lens, tripod. Note: Every attendee will be required to sign a liability waiver to visit the ranch in Chappell Hill. Finally, registration for this photo walk is required (and may be limited) so that we can manage the number of people expected in Chappell Hill and ensure a safe and wonderful experience for everyone.

Next Photo Walk will be scheduled in February 2022
