August President's Message

TWPC Members!

Please tell me there is a cold front coming in!!  It is probably not going to happen for a while.  However, many braved the heat, grabbed their cameras, and got out to shoot!

The field trip to capture the Houston Skyline from the Skylawn (top of the Post) in Houston, was very well attended!  And Richard Houghton’s Photo deconstruction provided lots of tips to better ‘Accentuate the Subject’ when editing our photos!  If anyone missed it, Richard’s slides are on FB and our website!

Just ahead, a field trip to the Cockrell Butterfly Museum on Saturday, August 20th is a must for all of us!  And, don’t forget to “hold the date”, for Saturday evening, September 24th, for Astrophotography!  These plans are still being worked out, so stay tuned!

The speakers for the August meeting are Ann Greene and Grace Wu documenting their recently completed 2 1/2 year long Photo Journey.  Ann and Grace  love traveling and documenting their experiences. They have traveled together since Feb. 2020 by either joined workshops, extended trip before/after workshops or completely arranged trips on their own.   Grace and Ann traveled to Lofoten, Tromso, Senja in Norway to experience the Aurora and camp in an igloo and tent in cold, snowy winter!  Taking advantage of less crowds during pandemic year of 2020 they traveled to Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Canyon lands and Arches, 5 fabulous national Parks in Utah!  They fell in live with the fall colors in Ouray and Durango in Colorado.  Next was Yosemite National Park followed by a workshop in Sequoia National Park and then on to the Oregon Coast. Then onto an Iceland workshop for the Aurora, Ice Caves, spectacular waterfalls, Diamond beach and Glacial lagoons and added 3 days on our own. Next they travelled to Hawaii for a workshop covering the volcano, seascapes and helicopter photography. Finally, for the most recent to trip to Spain and Portugal, they joined a PhotoPill Camp in Menorca, Spain and extended this trip on their own to Madrid, Barcelona and Portugal. Grace and Ann are thrilled to have this opportunity to share our experiences and will run a short video in the end for summary of all trips!

Our Annual Contest is just around the corner, so begin to think about your winning entries! More information will be shared at our August meeting and categories are posted on our website!  This event is fun and worth taking apart in!

See you all on Wednesday, August 10th at 7pm for our next club meeting at the Glade!
